Tom Russell is one of the great songwriters--esp. about the American West. He wrote Navajo Rug that Jerry Jeff has been doing for many many years. He also has a terrific song called Muhammad Ali. He collaborates with the equally great Dave Alvin periodically (Blue Wing, California Snow). He usually tours with Andrew Hardin, a fantastic acoustic guitar player. Can't say enough about Tom Russell--in some ways, he may be cut from some of the same cloth as Hunter. Great...

High Flow: Is the recording you pass along a commercial release (if so, which one), or a live one from the Brewery?

Hey SacTown - Thanks for the input. My Tom Russell knowledge is limited.

I was driving from Chico to the Bay and KVMR from Nevada City was doing the 'Ragged But Right' show and the host played the entire album. I was completely enthralled.

Well, I got stuck in traffic near Benicia, lost signal and missed the last 20 minutes, or so. After that, I was on a mission to get this album.

It is: Tom Russell - Hotwalker - A Ballad for Gone America.

What a great ride this is!!!

andy@gemut.com, if anybody would like a copy.
